The Melonellum is law. Conte: “The Court will rewrite it.” Rixi warns: “Mattarella won’t let us vote any sooner.”

The electoral law has been passed by the Chamber of Deputies: 227 in favour, 164 against. The focus is now on the election. MPs pushing for a specific timetable are bandying about dates: “The vote will be on 6 or 20 June”, but the League’s Deputy Minister for Transport is putting the brakes on: “Are you sure? We must remain in government until the very last day.”
