Blengino has resigned in an attempt to halt the party conference: “I am resigning. Party politics has triumphed. Serious irregularities are preventing the conference from proceeding properly.” The party chairman (and leader of Più Europa), Matteo Hallissey, is the target of this criticism: “He is using the party to fuel internal strife within Più Europa.” At the end of last week, he and Della Vedova failed to secure the approval of a resolution setting out the procedures for the Più Europa congress in December (which is currently the subject of an appeal by Magi’s loyalists).”

The Minister for European Affairs tells Il Foglio: “The upcoming elections won’t change Trump. A coalition with the Democrats wouldn’t be the first time.” The budget cuts? “When I hear the left speak, I’m tempted to quote a film: ‘nothing under the dress’. Schlein? Alice in Wonderland.”

High prices, war in Iran and falling approval ratings have transformed Trump from an asset into a potential liability for Republican candidates.
