Against the boycott of Israel

For the first time in seventy years, Europe is labelling Israel's goods. The European Commission has in fact taken the first step towards the boycott of the Jewish State's goods produced beyond the 1967 Green Line. There are over 200 territorial disputes in the world, from Crimea being invaded by Russia, Tibet subjected to China, up to the situation in Cyprus. Still, Israel is the only country subject to this mad attitude, aiming at its further isolation in the international public opinion. The damage suffered by Israel so far hasn't been economically relevant, but in the long term remarkable outcomes could affect the life and the economic sustainability of several businesses. In the meantime, the symbolic damage is already huge. A form of marginalisation of intolerance and ostracism toward Israel, right in the middle of a terroristic wave against the country - the only true democracy of the entire Middle East - a true “Third  Intifada” with knife attacks. The boycott further hinders the creation of a stable and long lasting peace between Israel and Palestine. On the contrary, it aims at turning Israel into a pariah state. This is why every single reasonable person, everyone having the survival of Israel - pledge of Europe after the Shoah - close to their hearts, should rally against this hideous boycott. Starting from today, Il Foglio creates a solidarity initiative, aimed at fighting this anti-Zionist discrimination,  purchasing Israeli products and establishing an anti-boycott committee.
