Fedorov to be Italy’s innovation adviser

According to Il Foglio, Ukraine’s former Defence Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, has accepted the proposal from Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto and will work as an innovation adviser for Italy. Crosetto had put forward his proposal to Fedorov immediately after his resignation in mid-July, which sparked major protests in Ukraine and triggered a political crisis with President Zelensky, culminating in last week’s video in which Fedorov called for elections in Ukraine for the first time, stating: “because Putin cannot dictate the pace of democracy in Ukraine”. The call for early elections cost him the support of a section of the Ukrainian population, who do not believe that fair elections can take place during a war, and the protests – which until then had been calling for Fedorov’s return to the Ministry of Defence – immediately came to a halt.

The former minister’s political career has suffered a setback, but not his career as an innovator; and for Italy, having Fedorov as an innovation adviser is a valuable asset, as the former minister brings with him not only his expertise but also his close ties with Elon Musk – their collaboration has brought Ukraine significant advantages in the field of technology.
