Borghi (Lega) states: “I had the decree amended, and this year we have not sent any weapons to Ukraine”
The Carroccio senator on Cartabianca: “I didn’t vote for the latest aid package.” He adds, with satisfaction, that since the start of the year Kyiv has received no means of defending itself. Sensi on social media: “This is the Lega’s idea of peace. Fine words in the chamber, but then the facts are these – disarming, so to speak.”

“I had the decree amended, and we haven’t sent any weapons to Ukraine since the start of the year.” So says Lega Senator Claudio Borghi triumphantly. Appearing on Cartabianca, the Lega MP—who has always been known for his opposition to military support—triumphantly explains that he exerted pressure and that, since the law authorising the transfer of military, logistical, medical and civil defence vehicles, materials and equipment to Ukraine was passed (last February), our country has sent nothing. He adds, still triumphantly: “I did not vote for the latest aid package” (the League, on the whole, did).
The editor’s editorial
The audio recording of the debate between Borghi and Bianca Berlinguer was published by Filippo Sensi, a senator from the Democratic Party. Writing on X, he comments: “All out in the open. ‘We haven’t sent any weapons since the start of the year,’ says Borghi smugly. ‘He’s even boasting about it,’ thunders Lerner. This is the Lega’s idea of peace. Fine words in the chamber, but then the facts are these – disarming, so to speak. I’m ashamed of them.”
