Alessandra Maiorino and Francesco Silvestri respond to the PD secretary, who said on Sunday: “I will be the candidate, with or without primaries.” The Five Star Movement MP says: “In that case, the primaries must be held as soon as possible, and it is through this process that we can listen to the progressive electorate, including on Kyiv and on those issues that the party leaderships are unable to resolve.”

The meeting of the parties backing the mayor’s re-election bid took place this morning. The position of the Five Star Movement remains unclear. On 7 November, the event at the Auditorium will kick off the election campaign

Luigi Nave is moving to the Mixed Group in the Senate and, in the coming days, will form a faction under the name ‘Avanti Psi e Progetto civico Italia’. In this way, the broad coalition is helping civic candidates and socialists to reduce the number of signatures required to stand for election: this brings the figure down to 1,500 instead of 6,000 per constituency.

Members of the High Council of the Judiciary (CSM) have called for an investigation to be launched to protect Santi Bologna, the investigating magistrate in Caltanissetta, who has been attacked by the former public prosecutor, now a senator for the Five Star Movement. But what is particularly telling is the silence of the National Magistrates’ Association, which has always been at the forefront when a magistrate is attacked by politicians. The investigating magistrate in Caltanissetta refers to "misleading tactics" on the part of the 5S senator towards former public prosecutor Natoli prior to his hearing before the Anti-Mafia Commission. From the mafia-procurement dossier to the massacres of ’92, right through to the heated exchange of letters between M5S and FdI, the key issues in the case

“The party was inspired by the values of St Francis, who viewed institutions as a service to citizens rather than as a means of personal enrichment,” says the comedian. The Sardinian M5S’s response: “We won’t take lessons in Franciscan morality from someone who has never followed it in their own life.”

Waste-to-energy plants – complex machines that burn the non-recyclable portion of municipal waste, generating electricity and often heat – are the bane of the Five Star Movement. In Sardinia, however, as in Parma, pragmatism has prevailed and an incinerator will come into operation in a few months’ time

The founder of the Five Star Movement, as reported by Il Foglio, will be in the capital for a few days at the Hotel Forum with the aim of meeting several former members and continuing the anti-Conte campaign

The budgetary policy outlined in the Five Star Movement’s document bears the hallmarks of the populist approach so dear to the Movement: laudable objectives that bring clear benefits, whilst the sacrifices required to fund them are far less clear.
