Elon Musk defends Roggero: “The judge and the prosecutor should be convicted”

Elon Musk sides with Mario Roggero: “It’s madness! The judge and the prosecutor in this case are the ones who deserve this sentence.” So said the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX on X, openly expressing his support for the Piedmontese jeweller and attacking the Italian judiciary, which sentenced him to 14 years and 9 months for shooting and killing two robbers. 

In response to a social media user’s post expressing outrage at the conviction handed down against the jeweller, the entrepreneur effectively aligned himself with the position expressed by several members of the ruling coalition, led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who, regarding the Roggero case, spoke of a “problem of proportionality of sentences”, confirming that she had asked Justice Minister Carlo Nordio to proceed with the process of seeking a pardon. Even more fervent was the support shown by Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini: “I would be proud to put him forward as a candidate to represent the Italian people,” said the League leader after meeting the jeweller at Bollate prison.
