Oasis in Rome on 29 and 30 July: the two dates are now official

Oasis have officially announced their 2027 tour dates. There will be 38 concerts across the UK, Ireland, Europe and the US, with stops in Glasgow, Manchester, Munich, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Boston, Las Vegas, Slane Castle and Knebworth. This time, Italy will also be included, having been left out of the 2025 reunion tour: Liam and Noel Gallagher will play at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on 29 and 30 July.

Confirmation came after a summer spent chasing clues and rumours. In recent days, a series of videos had already hinted at some of the stages, whilst on Thursday a swarm of drones flew over Manchester, first forming the Oasis logo, then the date 14 September and finally the time of the announcement. Last night, the same scene was repeated outside the Olympic Stadium, where the band’s logo appeared.

“START THE CELEBRATIONS!!!!”, begins the caption of the video posted on social media. This refers to the headline used by Simon Price in The Guardian on 28 August 2024 to comment on the reunion announcement (“Stop the celebrations – Oasis are the most damaging pop-cultural force in recent British history”). The band also adopted the rest of the headline, describing themselves as “the most damaging pop-cultural force in recent British history”, adding that, after “a period of reflection”, they are once again ready to “lift people’s spirits”. “Come and see for yourselves. It’ll be a sight to behold,” they concluded. 

The tour will kick off on 21 May at Celtic Park in Glasgow and will mainly pass through Manchester, where eleven nights are scheduled at the Etihad Stadium. Following the European and American dates, there will be two concerts in Ireland at Slane Castle and, finally, a return to Knebworth, with four nights in September, thirty-one years after the two concerts in 1996 in front of 250,000 people.

The Rome leg had been on the cards for months. Alessandro Onorato, Rome’s Councillor for Major Events, had repeatedly hinted that the City Council was working to bring Oasis to the city. Immediately after the announcement, he posted a video with two words: “Promise kept”. Mayor Roberto Gualtieri also commented on the official announcement, describing Rome as “increasingly the capital of great live music”. 

In August 2024, over 10 million people from 158 countries logged onto Ticketmaster to try and purchase the 1.4 million tickets initially available for the reunion tour’s UK and Irish dates. This time, however, there will be no general sale, and you’ll need to register on the dedicated website by 5.00 pm Italian time on 17 September, specifying your chosen date and any alternatives. At the end of the form, there will also be a question about the band’s history – a mechanism that suggests, as was the case for the reunion, a lottery system for access to the platform at the time of purchase.

Oasis have sold over 70 million albums worldwide. During their career, they released seven studio albums and had 22 consecutive singles in the UK Top Ten. Definitely Maybe, released in 1994, was at the time the best-selling debut album of all time in the UK, whilst (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? cemented the band’s success beyond the UK as well. Following their reunion, albums and singles released thirty years ago have also returned to the charts.
