A Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv has left at least 14 people dead

A Russian night-time attack in the Kyiv region has so far left at least 14 people dead and 22 injured. This was announced by the Ukrainian State Emergency Service via Telegram. The Russian military deployed 115 drones and fired 28 high-speed missiles, including ballistic missiles, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. It also stated that it had shot down 98 of these drones, without mentioning any missiles. Emergency services are currently operating at four sites in the Brovary district, two in the Bucha district and one in the Fastiv district. In the Brovary district, large fires have broken out in several warehouses in the district capital, as well as in the villages of Velyka Dymerka, Kvitneve and Peremoga. Rescue workers continue to operate under extremely dangerous conditions, given the risk of further Russian attacks.

The air-raid alert remained in force for over an hour, whilst waves of ballistic missiles struck the city and its outskirts. The military administration in Kyiv stated that the bombardment had damaged residential buildings and warehouses. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defence said it had struck transport, logistics and distribution centres in Kyiv and the surrounding region involved in the delivery of military supplies, as well as three cargo ships near Odessa on the Black Sea.
