The centre-left coalition begins its talks. “Draft government programme within a month”
“The work will now get into full swing with the establishment of 10 thematic working groups that will work with representatives of the political parties starting in the coming days,” say the PD, M5S, AVS, IV, Più Europa, Più Uno and Progetto Civico, together with the PSI, in a statement.

"The first meeting of the coalition’s policy working group took place today in a positive atmosphere of full cooperation. It was a substantive discussion, building on the joint work already carried out in Parliament and the proposals put forward in recent years by various political groups, including those not represented in Parliament. The work will now get into full swing with the establishment of 10 thematic working groups, which will begin working with representatives of the political groups in the coming days. The shared aim is to conclude this first phase by the end of November, in order to lay the foundations for a government programme for Italy, based on the country’s economic, social and democratic priorities.” This is explained in a joint statement by the progressive parties: the PD, M5S, AVS, IV, Più Europa, Più Uno and Progetto Civico, together with the PSI.
The meeting was attended by the parliamentary group leaders and representatives of the political parties involved in the process: for the Democratic Party, group leaders Chiara Braga and Francesco Boccia; for the Five Star Movement, group leaders Riccardo Ricciardi and Luca Pirondini; for the Green and Left Alliance, group leaders Luana Zanella and Peppe De Cristofaro; and for Italia Viva Casa Riformista, group leaders Maria Elena Boschi and Raffaella Paita. Also present were Benedetto Della Vedova, MP for +Europa; Bruno Tabacci, MP for Più Uno; Marco Mistretta, programme director for Progetto Civico per l’Italia; and Gerardo Labellarte for the PSI.
