Emma Bonino has been admitted to hospital in Rome. According to reports, the former president of +Europa was attended to at her home in the centre of the capital this afternoon and taken by ambulance on a red-code emergency to Santo Spirito Hospital. She is reportedly in a serious condition. Bonino – we have learnt – is conscious and awaiting medical assessment. Tests and an assessment of her vital signs are currently underway following a deterioration in her respiratory function. She remains alert and lucid. This is according to the attending physician of the former Foreign Minister, Claudio Santini, who is in constant contact with the doctors at Santo Spirito. The Radical Party leader had previously been admitted to the same hospital following a sudden illness on 30 November 2025.
