Attilio Fontana’s ‘party’

Attilio Fontana is worth a party. A set of statutes arrived yesterday on the desk of the Lombardy governor, a member of the Lega. It is a draft drawn up by a legal expert, which Fontana himself has reviewed and circulated in an old Lega chat group. This draft sets out the framework for a new party, the Italian Liberal Federalist Party (PLFI), a new political entity. The party constitution draws on the ideas of Gaetano Salvemini and federalism, and aims to promote three major federal regions. It is clearly the dream of those who seek alternatives to the League.

A president and a national secretary are expected to be appointed. Are we witnessing the birth of a new League? Fontana responds to "Il Foglio". Mr Fontana, are you thinking of founding the PLFI? What is this all about? “A new party is not on the agenda, but there needs to be more debate both within and outside the League.
